Dominican Empanadas with Ziba’s

Ingredients for making dough for empanadas:

  • 1 lb all-purpose flour
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Water


Ingredients for making the filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Pepper
  • 2 diced tomatoes
  • 1 onion in cubes
  • 1 chili pepper in cubes
  • Ketchup
  • Oregano
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Olives
  • 1 striped carrot
  • 1 Ziba’s Classics


Preparation of dough for empanadas:

  • Place the flour, a pinch of salt, and a tablespoon of oil in a bowl and mix.
  • Add the water little by little until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, and let it rest for at least 20 minutes.


Preparation of filling and empanadas:

  • Place the onion, tomato, chili pepper, garlic, and fry in a pan, then add the meat.
  • Add the carrot and olives.
  • Season with oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Let cool and place the Ziba’s.
  • Roll out the previously prepared dough into a circle, place the filling and close in half to form the pie.
  • Place the oil in a pot and dip the patties until they have a golden appearance.
  • Serve and accompany by tomato sauce and chopped parsley.
